NY-DIGNITY

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 29, 2026

This page describes what NYDignity actually does with information on nydignity.org. It is written in plain language for drivers and supporters. If something is not listed here, we do not claim it.

Who we are

NYDignity (NY-DIGNITY) is an independent project. It is not the TLC, not a government agency, and not a tax-deductible charity. Contact: info@nydignity.org or privacy@nydignity.org.

What you can do on this site

NYDignity is Driver Utility + Economic Transparency + Driver Retirement Initiative + Industry Information + Advocacy. You can read materials, run an illustrative retirement scenario calculator, join the supporter list, Support NYDignity with an optional off-site payment, vote in a Community Pulse, watch videos, and request a briefing.

Join form (stand with drivers)

If you submit the join form we receive: name, email, phone (optional), borough/region, work type, platforms, how you want to support, and an optional comment. You also check a consent box. The form POSTs to submit.php.

  • Join-form records are stored in a protected, non-public data location. The site is configured to prefer storage outside the public web directory; where hosting configuration requires otherwise, the data directory is protected from direct web access.
  • The team is notified at form@nydignity.org. An automatic thank-you may go out from hello@nydignity.org.
  • A hidden “website” field is a honeypot for bots. If it is filled, we ignore the submission.
  • Duplicate emails are detected with a hash of the normalized email so the same address is not stored twice.
  • Your IP address may appear in the admin email to the team. It is not written into signatures.jsonl.

Briefing / request form

If you request a briefing we receive: name, email, organization/role (optional), request type, and message. Hidden honeypot field: website. Mail goes to info@nydignity.org and form@nydignity.org. IP address may appear in that email.

Community Pulse

The Pulse is optional. You send only a poll choice — no name, no email. Totals are stored in a poll-*.json file. After you vote we set a host-only cookie (it is not shared between nydignity.org and www.nydignity.org) so the same browser on that host is not counted twice. We also rate-limit by a hashed network address, not your raw IP. Rate-limit salt and throttle files are stored outside the public website folder. If that private folder cannot be used, a Pulse vote, join, request, or similar POST returns an error instead of writing those files in the public folder. This is not a scientific survey.

Cookies and local storage

  • PHPSESSID — used only on admin-videos.php and document.php (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict). Ordinary visitors do not get this session cookie.
  • nyd-lang — language preference in localStorage (not a cookie).
  • nyd_pulse_<poll id> — set after a successful Pulse vote (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax, host-only, about one year). Duplicate votes across www and the apex host are limited by the hashed-IP check, not by sharing this cookie.

We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or advertising pixels on this site.

Support NYDignity (payments)

Support NYDignity is voluntary and not tax-deductible. Payment buttons open Stripe Payment Links on Stripe’s site. Stripe processes the payment. NYDignity does not collect or store card numbers.

Videos and other sites we link to

Videos embed from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com). We also link out to the TLC and other official sources, YouTube, Beehiiv (newsletter), and similar third parties. Those sites have their own practices. We do not control them.

How long we keep information

We keep join and request information as long as we need it to operate this initiative and to contact people who asked to hear from us. We do not promise a timed purge. If you want us to stop emailing you or to look up what we hold, write to privacy@nydignity.org.

What we do not claim

We do not claim special technical protections beyond ordinary web hosting, and we do not claim that data deletes itself. There is no account system and no future “vault” of driver accounts on this site today.

Children

This site is for adults in New York’s transportation workforce and their supporters. It is not directed at children under 13.
